Here at Claiborne &amp; Churchill we can certainly attest to this; we\u2019ve already\u00a0bottled most of our white wines, having held three major bottling sessions in the\u00a0first three months of this year!<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-389 size-medium\" title=\"Claiborne &amp; Churchill Edelzwicker\" src=\"https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4300-300x225.jpeg\" alt=\"Claiborne &amp; Churchill Edelzwicker\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4300-300x225.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4300-1024x768.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_4300.jpeg 1632w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 2014 Dry Gewurztraminer, our most popular white wine, was bottled in\u00a0January and has already been released to a thirsty wine club. February saw the Pinot\u00a0Gris, the Dry Muscat, and the ever-popular Dry Rose ushered into bottles, and in\u00a0March the Pinot Blanc, the Edelzwicker and the Dry Riesling (another signature\u00a0wine) were bottled.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We now have a good handle on what the 2014 vintage has brought us, and we are\u00a0very happy with how these wines have turned out. They taste fresh and vibrant,\u00a0with beautiful aromatics, lush flavors, and great acidity. Sometimes a vintage brings\u00a0quality to one varietal but not another, but the 2014s are all showing well in their\u00a0youth, across the board!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-388 size-medium\" title=\"Claiborne &amp; Churchill Bottling\" src=\"https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_2079-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"Claiborne &amp; Churchill Bottling\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_2079-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_2079-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_2079-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.claibornechurchill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/04\/IMG_2079.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Why was the 2014 such a good vintage? Ironically, California\u2019s drought had a lot to\u00a0do with it. If the dry and warm summer brought us one good thing (besides perfect\u00a0beach weather), it was quality in the vineyard. Vineyards tend to thrive under a little\u00a0stress, in this case limited water. A dry springtime and ideal weather during bloom and\u00a0berry set helped create solid wines and above average yields. Moreover, during the\u00a0peak of the growing season we did not see any nasty heat spikes. June was a warm\u00a0month, but July, August and September brought us pleasant coastal weather, ideal\u00a0for our cool-climate varietals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Making good wine is hard and exciting work, but getting these good wines safely\u00a0into the bottle is something altogether different: hard and stressful work, you might\u00a0say.
