2006 Chardonnay

Edna Valley, AVA

The grapes for this rich and flavorful Chardonnay come primarily from Wolff Vineyards, one of the grand old vineyards in the Edna Valley. (It was formerly known as MacGregor Vineyard, and was planted in the mid-seventies.)  This vintage brings forward aromas of fresh tropical fruit with the notes of vanilla and toast from the French oak Barrels. It is a classic Chardonnay in the traditional "Edna Valley" style, something that is found less and less frequently in this era of bland and insipid "commodity" Chardonnays. We have been making Chardonnay (in modest quantities) since 1988, and we are hard-pressed to remember a Chardonnay of ours that is as downright hedonistically mouthfilling as this one.
