The Thompsons in Europe Summer 2002 |
Above is the brass rubbing from the tomb of Sir Roger of Trumpington. It hangs in our tasting room, and attracts many questions. This likeness was made by rubbing a black crayon over paper laid atop the brass relief that marks Sir Roger's final resting place. Clay made this rubbing nearly 30 years ago, at Trumpington Church, outside of Cambridge, England. This summer the Thompson family revisited the church and took these photos:
This is Trumpington Church, near Cambridge England. It is the final resting place of Sir Roger of Trumpington, whose likeness is framed and hanging over our tasting bar. Below are Fredericka and Elizabeth looking upon the actual brass plate from which this likeness was rubbed almost 30 years ago!
